Gilbert F. Houngbo (ഗില്ബര്ട്ട് എഫ്. ഹൂങ്ബോ)
അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര തൊഴില് സംഘടനയുടെ (The International Labour Organization (ILO) 11-ാമത് ഡയറക്ടര് ജനറലായി ടോഗോ പൗരനായ ഗില്ബര്ട്ട് എഫ്. ഹൂങ്ബോ (Gilbert F. Houngbo) നിയമിതനായി. 2008 മുതല് 2012 വരെ തെക്കന് ആഫ്രിക്കന് രാജ്യമായ ടോഗോയുടെ (Togo) പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള വ്യക്തിയാണിദ്ദേഹം. ഈ പദവിയിലെത്തുന്ന ആദ്യ ആഫ്രിക്കന് വംശജനാണിദ്ദേഹം. ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്ര സമിതിയുടെ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമുള്ള ഘടകമായ കഘഛ യില് ഇപ്പോള് 187 അംഗരാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുണ്ട്.
Professor Wilfried Brutsaert
The American hydrologist who is recipient of the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize 2022. He is Professor of Engineering Emeritus at famous Cornell University, Ithaca, United States. Brutsaert is one of the world’s leading authority on terrestrial evaporation.
The Stockholm Water Prize is an award that recognizes outstanding achievements in water related activities. This was satrted presenting annually from the year 1991 onwards. The prize which is instituted by the Stockholm Water Foundation and administered by the Stockholm International Water Institute, includes a cash award of US$150,000 (about Rs. 11478495) and a crystal sculpture.
Dennis Parnell Sullivan
Sullivan, the winner of the Abel Prize 2022, is an American mathematician known for his work in algebraic topology, geometric topology, and dynamical systems. Sullivan was awarded the Wolf Prize in Mathematics in 2010 as well.
Sullivan was born on February 12, 1941 at Port Huron, Michigan, U.S.
The Abel Prize is named after the Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel and is awarded annually by the King of Norway to one or more outstanding mathematicians. It is considered equivalent to Nobel Prize. The award consists of 7.5 million Norwegian kroner.
Vinisha Umashankar
She is a class 8th student from Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu has recently won the Children’s Climate Prize conferred by the Children’s Climate Foundation from Sweden. Vinisha attarcted the attention of the world with her unique design of an innovative solar ironing cart, which is an everyday use engineering product.
Vinisha’s cart that uses solar panels to power a steam iron box. This can be powered by pre-charged batteries, electricity or diesel-powered generator in the absence of sunlight. The most important benefit of solar ironing cart is that it eliminates the need for coal for ironing. The vendors can move around and offer services at the doorstep for increasing their daily earning. For earning extra income, the ironing cart can be fitted with a coin-operated GSM PCO, USB charging points and mobile charging.
