This is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family. It is also known as the European kestrel or Eurasian kestrel. It is widespread in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
These have long wings as well as a distinctive long tail. Their plumage is mainly light brown with blackish spots on the upperside. A narrow ring around the eye which is bright yellow in colour is a distinctive feature of this bird. The female birds are noticeably larger than male ones.
