മഞ്ഞ കാമമെയ്ല്‍ പുഷ്പം (Yellow chamomile)

ഇതും സൂര്യകാന്തി വംശത്തില്‍പെട്ട ഒരു പുഷ്പമാണ്. കടും പച്ചനിറവും സുഗന്ധവുമുള്ള ഇലച്ചാര്‍ത്താണ് കാമമെയ്ല്‍ ചെടിയ്ക്കുള്ളത്. ചെറിയ കാലത്തെ ആയുസ് മാത്രമുള്ള ചെടിയാണിത്. ഡെയ്‌സിയോട് സാമ്യമുള്ള പൂവുകള്‍ അതിമനോഹരമാണ്.

Canna Hybrid Flower

Canna is a flowering plant. Cannas are not true lilies. The name Canna originates from the Latin word for a ‘cane’ or ‘reed’.  The flowers are typically red, orange, or yellow or any combination of those colours. Many hybrid varieties are also there, like the one given on the cover of your magazine.

Bulsarana Flower (Canna Lily/ Indian Short Plant)

This is also known as Canna Lily or Indian short plant. Its ornamental foliage has a close resemblance to banana leaves.  This easily grown perennial is very popular due to its showy and striking flowers. 

സീനിയ (Zinnia)

വിവിധ നിറങ്ങളില്‍ പൂക്കള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഒരു ഉദ്യാനസസ്യമാണ് ചിത്രശലഭങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട പുഷ്പങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ സീനിയ. ഇരുപതോളം ഉപവര്‍ഗ്ഗങ്ങളുള്ള ജനുസ്സാണ് ഇവ. നീളത്തിലുള്ള തണ്ടോടുകൂടിയ പുഷ്പങ്ങള്‍ ഇതിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. പ്രധാനമായും തെക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിലും മെക്‌സിക്കോയിലുമാണ് ഇവ കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്. പൂവിതളുകള്‍ ഒരു തട്ടിലോ ഒന്നില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ തട്ടുകളിലോ ചെടിയുടെ വിഭാഗമനുസരിച്ച് കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

ഗസേനിയ (Gazania)

ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്ക സ്വദേശമായുള്ള ഒരു അലങ്കാര സസ്യമാണ് ഗസേനിയ. നീളമേറിയ പൂത്തണ്ടുകളാണ് ഈ ചെടിയുടെ പ്രത്യേകത. നിരവധി ഇനങ്ങളും സങ്കരയിനങ്ങളും ഈ വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിനുണ്ട്. ചുവപ്പ്, ഓറഞ്ച്, ക്രീം, പിങ്ക് തുടങ്ങിയ നിറങ്ങളിലും മറ്റ് നിറങ്ങള്‍ കലര്‍ന്ന രീതിയിലുമുള്ള പൂക്കള്‍ ഇതിനുണ്ട്. ജര്‍മ്മന്‍ സസ്യ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായിരുന്ന ജോസഫ് ഗാര്‍ട്‌നര്‍ (Joseph Gaertner) ആണ് ഈ സസ്യത്തിന് പേര് നല്‍കിയത്. 

Ranunculus Flower

Members of this genus are known as buttercups.  The name ‘Ranunculus’ came from an old Latin word meaning ‘little frog’. The plants in this species are poisonous when eaten fresh. 

പര്‍പ്പിള്‍ അലമാന്‍ഡ (Purple Allamanda)

അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഭൂഖണ്ഡമാണ് ഈ പുഷ്പത്തിന്റെ ജന്മദേശം. വലിയ വര്‍ണ്ണാഭമായ പൂക്കളാണ് ഈ ചെടിയുടെ പ്രത്യേകത. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇവയെ അലങ്കാര സസ്യങ്ങളായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. കൂടുതല്‍ ഇനങ്ങളിലും മഞ്ഞ പൂക്കളാണെങ്കിലും പിങ്ക് അടക്കമുള്ള മറ്റ് നിറങ്ങളിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഫ്രെഡറിക് ലൂയിസ് അലമാന്‍ഡ (Frederic Louis Allamand) എന്ന സ്വിസ് സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനെ ആദരിച്ചാണ് ഈ ജീനസിന് അലമാന്‍ഡ എന്ന പേരു നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. 

Petunia Flower

This flower is of  South American origin. This genus includes about 35 species of flowering plants. This is an ornamental plant which has a showy trumpet-shaped flower. The flowers range from pure white to deep crimson or purple and in contrasting colours. There are single- and double-bloom varieties as well.

വിരേയ റോഡോഡെന്‍ട്രോണ്‍ (Vireya Rhododendron)

ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഭൂഖണ്ഡത്തിലും ആസ്‌ട്രേലിയയിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. പല നിറങ്ങളിലും വലിപ്പത്തിലും പൂക്കള്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. നിരവധി ഹൈബ്രിഡ് ഇനങ്ങളും നിലവിലുണ്ട്. ഒരു പൂന്തോട്ട പുഷ്പം എന്ന നിലയിലും പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. ചില ഇനങ്ങളുടെ പൂക്കള്‍ക്ക് നല്ല ഗന്ധവുമുണ്ട്.

Cyclamen flower

Cyclamen is a flowering plant native to Europe and the Mediterranean area. They grow from tubers and are valued for their flowers with upswept petals and variably patterned leaves. Each flower is on a stem coming from a growing point on the tuber. Flowers have 5 petals,  connected at the base into a cup.

പാന്‍സി (Pansy)

ആകര്‍ഷകമായ വലിയ പൂക്കളുള്ള ഒരു ഹൈബ്രിഡ് സസ്യമാണ് പാന്‍സി. ഇത് ഉദ്യാനസസ്യമായി കൃഷിചെയ്തുവരുന്നു. പ്രധാനമായും യൂറോപ്പ്, ഏഷ്യന്‍ ഭൂഖണ്ഡങ്ങളില്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. രണ്ട് മൂന്ന് തട്ടുകളായി കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഇതളുകളാണ് ഈ പൂവിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത. വെള്ള, മഞ്ഞ, പര്‍പ്പിള്‍, നീല, ചുവപ്പ് തുടങ്ങിയ നിറങ്ങളില്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

Globe Flower

The name “globe flower” refers to the petals of the flower which are curved over the top forming a globe shape. Flowers of these are seen in bright yellow, orange or lilac colours. 

White Chamomile flower

Chamomile is the common name for several daisy-like plants. A type of tea named Chamomile tea is a herbal infusion made from the dried flowers of some varieties of chammomile and hot water. These are also used as a flavoring agent in foods and beverages, mouthwash, soaps, or cosmetics. 

ലില്ലി (Lily)

മനോഹരമായ പൂക്കളുള്ള ഒരു ചെടി. Lilium എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ സസ്യവര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ അനേകം ഇനം പൂക്കളുണ്ട്. വലിപ്പമേറിയതും സുഗന്ധമുള്ളതുമാണ് പൂക്കള്‍. വെള്ള, മഞ്ഞ, ഓറഞ്ച്, പിങ്ക്, ചുവപ്പ്, പര്‍പ്പിള്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിരവധി നിറങ്ങളില്‍ പൂക്കള്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

Coreopsis Tinctoria flower

Coreopsis tinctoria is also called garden ticksee or golden tickseed. The plant is common to the American continent. Flower heads are brilliant yellow with maroon or brown disc florets of various sizes. Flowering typically occurs in mid-summer. Flowers were used by people to make dyes or beverages in ancient times.

നാസ്റ്റര്‍ഷ്യം (Nasturtium/Tropaeolum)

നാസ്റ്റര്‍ഷ്യം, ട്രോപീലം എന്നിങ്ങനെ സാധാരണയായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. കാള്‍ ലിന്നേയസ് ആണ് ഈ പേരുനല്‍കിയത്. 'നോസ്-ട്വിസ്റ്റര്‍' എന്നാണ് ഈ വാക്കിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥം. പല നിറങ്ങളിലുള്ള പൂക്കള്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. കടും നിറങ്ങളിലുള്ള പൂക്കള്‍ ഇവയുടെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. 

അനിമണി (Anemone)

വിവിധ നിറങ്ങളില്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന അനേകം ഇനങ്ങള്‍ ഇവയിലുണ്ടണ്ട്. 1753ല്‍ കാള്‍ ലിനേയസ് (Carl Linnaeus) ആണ് അനിമണി എന്ന പേര് ഈ വര്‍ഗം സസ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയത്. സാധാരണയായി ഇവയെ ‘wind flowers’  എന്ന് വിളിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഈ പുഷ്പത്തിന് ആപേര് ലഭിച്ച anemoi എന്ന ഗ്രീക്ക് വാക്കിന് 'കാറ്റ്' എന്നാണ് അര്‍ത്ഥം.

Camellia flower

Commonly found in eastern and southern Asia. The genus was named by Linnaeus after the Jesuit botanist Georg Joseph Kamel. The leaves, seeds and flowers of different varieties of this plant are widely used for making tea, oils etc. 

ഗ്ലാഡിയോലസ് (Gladiolus)

പുഷ്പാലങ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സസ്യമാണ് ഗ്ലാഡിയോലസ്. യൂറോപ്പിലും ഏഷ്യയിലും ആഫ്രിക്കയിലും മറ്റും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. വിവിധ നിറങ്ങളിലും വലിപ്പത്തിലും പൂക്കളുണ്ടാകും. പുഷ്പാലങ്കാരങ്ങലിലും ബൊക്കേകളിലും ഗ്ലാഡിയോലിസ് ധാരാളമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പൂക്കള്‍ പലദിനം വാടാതെ നില്‍ക്കും.
