Grey-headed Swamphen

This is a large bluish-purple waterbird which is common in many Asian countries including India. It has a red bill and forehead shield, as well as red legs and feet with long toes. This dwells near marshy, vegetated freshwater bodies such as swamps, rivers, and lakes; usually in small groups. Its short nasal grunts and croaking sounds are peculiar.
